Description
ZooParc de Beauval is one of the most acclaimed zoological parks in Europe, located in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher in the Loire Valley of France. The park is internationally celebrated for its exceptional collection of rare and endangered species, most notably its giant pandas, white lions, white tigers, gorillas, and one of the world’s largest collections of birds. Founded in 1980 from a small bird collection, Beauval has grown into a sprawling 22-hectare park home to more than 35,000 animals representing approximately 600 species, making it one of the largest collections of wildlife in Europe. The zoo’s enclosures are designed to the highest standards of naturalistic habitat design, prioritising animal welfare while providing spectacular viewing opportunities for visitors. Beauval is deeply committed to global conservation, supporting more than 50 breeding programmes for endangered species and contributing to fieldwork across multiple continents. It has achieved landmark breeding successes including the births of giant panda cubs, an extremely rare event outside China. The zoo has been voted Europe’s best zoo multiple times and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in France, drawing more than two million visitors annually.
