Gold Reef City Theme Park

Gold Reef City is South Africa’s largest theme park and one of Johannesburg’s most iconic entertainment destinations, located at the corner of Northern Parkway and Data Crescent in Ormonde, just south of the Johannesburg CBD. Built on the site of a historic 19th-century gold mine, the park combines adrenaline-pumping rides with gold-rush era theming across a sprawling complex. It features over 40 attractions including 16 thrill rides, seven family rides, 21 dedicated kids rides, and a Jump City Trampoline Park. Water-based attractions include flume rides and water features integrated within the broader theme park experience. Additional highlights include a 4D Theatre, Jozi’s Story of Gold heritage tour with an authentic 75-metre underground mine descent, gold-pouring demonstrations, and the Gold Reef City Chapel dating to 1879. Entertainment is complemented by Barney’s Restaurant & Bar and over a dozen dining options within the complex. The park is open Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm and daily during Gauteng public school holidays from 9:30am to 5pm. Tickets are purchased exclusively online at R295 per person, with Tsogo Rewards members receiving discounts of up to 20%.
