This Is Athens Tours

This Is Athens Tours is the official guided tour programme run by the Athens tourism authority, offering a distinctive range of walking experiences that blend the city’s ancient heritage with its contemporary urban culture in a way that few private operators can replicate. As the official voice of Athens tourism, the programme is designed to showcase the city holistically — from the world-famous archaeological sites of the Acropolis hill and the ancient Agora to the vibrant neighbourhood culture of Psiri, Monastiraki, and Gazi, where the city’s creative and gastronomic scenes have flourished in recent decades. Guides are trained professionals with deep knowledge of Athenian history and culture across all periods, and tours are conducted with an emphasis on accessibility and genuine engagement for visitors of different backgrounds and levels of prior knowledge. The programme offers a range of themed experiences including heritage walks, food tours, neighbourhood explorations, and evening itineraries, ensuring that visitors can find a format that matches their interests and schedule. As an official tourism initiative, This Is Athens Tours benefits from strong institutional credibility and a commitment to representing the full complexity of the city rather than a simplified tourist version. Current tour offerings, schedules, and booking are managed through the This Is Athens website.
